Needle down,
world out.
Static & Grain is a crate-dug, cash-in-the-till record shop. New pressings, second-hand finds, and a listening room that opens up most Thursday nights.
Run by people
who still argue
about the mix.
Static & Grain started as a folding table at the Sunday market and grew into a proper shop because the table kept selling out. We buy collections, we press local artists, and we still believe the best way to hear a record is on a system loud enough to feel it.
Every crate is hand-sorted and every price tag is written by someone who's actually played the record. If we don't know it, we'll say so — and then we'll probably put it on.
The crates
Four sections, roughly. Genres bleed into each other here on purpose.
Soul & Funk
Deep cuts and dancefloor staples, 45s up front.
Jazz
Post-bop through spiritual jazz, alphabetised loosely.
Electronic
Techno, dub, and whatever the Thursday DJ is into.
Local Pressings
Records we've cut ourselves with artists from around here.
